History Of Primary Care

Primary Care was formed as a Partnership by Michelle Duggan and Natalie Emmerson in October 2000, based in the Enterprise Centre, Davy Road, Clacton on Sea. The company initially provided agency cover for a number of residential homes.

In April 2002 Primary Care Agency became a limited company and was renamed, Primary Care UK Ltd.

The Directors, Natalie and Michelle still remain involved with the running of Primary Care.

Below are some dates and events that have led us to where we are today.

  • 2002, CSCI registration gained and has achieved the highest performance rating 3 star “excellent”. We continue to maintain this standard. www.cqc.org.uk
  • Spring 2002, gained approval from Essex County Council to provide support services
  • Moved offices to larger premises in Station Road, Clacton On Sea
  • Gained ‘Investors in People’ award
  • April 2005, tendered for and was successful in being awarded the block contract for the Tendring area of Essex to provide all of the community support services for adults with learning disabilities.
  • July 2005, moved again to larger offices. Atlantic House, 22 Telford Road, Clacton On Sea,
  • October 2008, opened The Grove Day Centre for Adults with Learning Disabilities in Holland on sea open 7 days a week.
  • 2009, expanded our range of support services to offer homecare for older people, respite care for main careers, individuals and to support to assist people to manage their mental health needs.
  • April 2010, awarded funding from Aiming High for Disabled Children team and commenced offering Service to Children and Young Adults with Disabilities.
  • 2010, Finalists at the Great British Care Awards.
  • 2011 was a busy year:
    • February,  Natalie Emmerson received an excellent achievement by winning the Oyster Awards ‘Businesswoman of The Year’ awarded by Colchester Connected.
    • April secured a further 1 years funding from Aiming High for Disabled Children in Essex, to continue to provide a Befriending Service to Children and Young Adults.
    • October, Finalists for the second year running at the Great British Care Awards.
    • November, selected as finalists for TWO categories of the Colchester Business Awards in both ‘Excellence Customer Services’ and ‘Businesswoman of the Year’.
    • Natalie won her second ‘Business Woman of the Year’ award by the Colchester Business awards.

We are all looking forward to what 2012 has to bring.
